XANTHONES IN CELL-SUSPENSION CULTURES OF 2 CENTAURIUM SPECIES

摘要
Cell suspension cultures of Centaurium erythraea and C. littorale contain 3, 5, 6, 7, 8-pentamethoxy-1-O-primeverosylxanthone as a main constituent. The corresponding aglycone is also a prominent component in C. littorale. In both cell cultures, xanthone formation paralleled cell growth. On a dry weight basis the xanthone content reached 0.7% in C. erythraea and 0.3% in C. littorale cells.
