REGULATION OF HUMAN GONADOTROPINS .V. EFFECT OF DYDROGESTERONE ON SERUM LEVELS OF FOLLICLE-STIMULATING AND LUTEINIZING HORMONES IN WOMEN

Several hormonal parameters of the menstrual cycle were studied in 5 subjects in the months before, during, and after dydrogesterone administration. These included serum LH and FSH concentrations, urinary pregnanediol determinations, and basal body temperatures. In all subjects, an absence of LH and FSH surge at midcycle, lack of elevation of urinary pregnanediol during the luteal phase, and monophasic basal body temperature curves were observed while on dydrogesterone. These data are interpreted as indicating that dydrogesterone causes marked alterations in these hormone patterns as compared with the control months. © 1969.
