A LOW RADIOACTIVITY ACRYLIC TPC FILLED WITH CF4 AT HIGH-PRESSURE

摘要
A prototype time projection chamber, the first of this kind constructed in acrylic in order to be used as a low radioactivity, low energy detector, is described. A similar detector, of larger size, will be used in experiments to measure the neutrino-electron scattering and to search for rare events such as neutrinoless double beta decay and dark matter scattering. The behaviour of the chamber, filled with CF4 at 5 bar, which is an ideal gas for the study of the nu(e)e-BAR reaction, is discussed together with the results obtained on the electron drift length and on the energy resolution.
