ULTRASTRUCTURAL OBSERVATIONS ON BRANCHED RODS ASSOCIATED WITH SOME INSECT GRANULOSES

摘要
The long branched rods associated with granulosis-virus infections have been studied in several insect genera. When present, the rods are smaller in diameter than the virus rods, and possess in common with the capsules an epicapsular layer. The branched rods were found attached to capsulelike bodies also possessing an epicapsular layer; at points of junction this layer was continuous from the rods to the capsulelike bodies. It is suggested that the rods may represent an alternate arrangement of the protein forming the capsules. © 1969.
