POLYMERIZATION OF ACRYLAMIDE USING MANDELIC-ACID PERMANGANATE REDOX SYSTEM IN ACIDIC MEDIUM

摘要
A combined system of potassium permanganate and mandelic acid was found to initiate vinyl polymerization, specifically acrylamide. A study of the reaction kinetics of this system showed that free radicals are formed. The energy of activation was found to be 3.54 kcal/° mol in the temperature range 27–40°C, in nitrogen atmosphere. Copyright © 1990 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
