An analog of the RKKY formula is derived for an anisotropic metal. Scattering of electrons by impurities is analyzed and it is proved that its only effect is the modulation of the interaction amplitude by a factor exp (-r/lr), lrbeing the mean free path for electrons corresponding to the gabarite points" of the Fermi surface for a given direction of r. One- and two-dimensional metals are also considered. © 1979 Plenum Publishing Corporation."
