摘要
Electron paramagnetic resonance at X‐band is studied in natural aragonite single crystals containing about 100 ppm Mn impurities. It is found that there are two inequivalent Mn2+ sites in the aragonite lattice. The principal axes Y of both the sites coincide. They are in <100> crystallographic directions. The principal axes XI, ZI, XII, ZII lie in the (b, c) crystal plane. The axes ZI and ZII are related at angles 65°. The crystallographic <001> direction bisects this angle. The EPR spectra of both these sites are well described with the same orthorhombic spin‐Hamiltonian parameters. Copyright © 1979 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA
