MARKER SYSTEMS FOR B-A TRANSLOCATIONS IN MAIZE

摘要
The translocations between the supernumerary B chromosomes and the normal A chromosomes in maize provide an unparalleled tool for gene localizations and dosage studies in a model plant genetic organism. Marker systems for 14 of the 18 chromosome arms having B-A translocations are described in terms of their ability to classify all dosage classes at the mature kernel stage. These systems will facilitate dosage studies, mutant characterizations, gene localizations, and general maintenance of B-A translocations. This system provides the most extensive set of genetic tools available in a diploid plant species for dosage analyses. © 1993 The American Genetic Association.
