摘要
Catalytic activities of hydrogen storage alloys for the decomposition of methanol and ethanol were studied in the temperature range 423-623 K. In the decomposition of methanol, each alloy showed a characteristic selectivity depending on its chemical composition. Titanium-containing alloys were active for the formation of formaldehyde, but nickel-containing alloys were active for the formation of carbon monoxide. The formation of methyl formate was observed on a magnesium-copper alloy. In the decomposition of ethanol, the products were essentially acetaldehyde and hydrogen on all alloys. The order of the catalytic activities per unit surface area of the material was different from that of the hydrogen absorption abilities. © 1990.
