EFFECTS OF UNILATERAL DISORDER OF THE BRAIN HEMISPHERE FUNCTION IN MAN ON DIRECTIONAL HEARING

摘要
Sound source localization under conditions of free acoustic field as well as of dichotic stimulation evoking the shift of both unmoved and moving auditory images, was studied in depressive patients immediately after right- and left-sided electroshock seizures. It was established that left-sided seizure followed by functional disorder of the left hemisphere resulted in no substantial changes in patient's abilities of sound localization or lateralization, as compared to the abilities under the patient normal state. The right-sided electroshock seizure resulted in gross disorders of both the sound localization and lateralization. It is concluded that the right hemisphere is concerned with auditory spatial orientation. © 1979.
