摘要
A survey, extending over a period of 18 months, of the highly polluted Clyde Estuary was carried out to investigate the relationships between levels of dissolved oxygen and fresh-water input and temperature. The data were analysed to provide a simple equation linking the three parameters in any combination occurring at each of the thirteen sampling stations examined. Dissolved oxygen levels expressed in terms of percentage saturation generally increase with increased fresh-water flow and decrease with rises in temperature. The equations derived have applications to the solution of management problems in the estuary including the prediction of future conditions and measuring the effects of changes in the polluting load, the alteration of the fresh-water flow regime, or the addition of heated water. © 1969.
