ORBITAL EVOLUTION OF THE TERRESTRIAL PLANETS AS A RESULT OF CLOSE ENCOUNTERS AND COLLISIONS WITH PLANET-CROSSING ASTEROIDS

In this paper, we investigate the dynamical evolution of the terrestrial planets as a result of close encounters and collisions with planet-crossing asteroids. We also pay attention to the importance of time dependence in the flux rate of asteroids to planet-crossing orbits. Our results shown that the orbits of the terrestrial planets have been affected by this mechanism, although mutual gravitational perturbations among the terrestrial planets and by Jupiter dominate the variations in the orbital elements.
