摘要
A novel passive waveshaping method for single-phase diode rectifers (Fig. 1) is presented in this paper. It is shown that application of the proposed method maintains a high-input power factor, lowers rectifier current stresses, and lowers the volt-ampere (VA) rating of the associated reactive components as compared with the standard diode rectifier, which is shown in Fig. 3. Relevant input and output current waveforms, component ratings, and power factor values are derived. Different modes of operation are discussed as a means of obtaining high performance. Finally, predicted results are verified experimentally on a laboratory prototype unit.
