LOG-NORMAL SPECTRUM OF LOW-ENERGY VIBRATIONAL EXCITATIONS IN GLASSES

摘要
It is shown that the spectrum of excess low-energy (E approximately 2-10 meV) density of vibrational states in glasses founded by inelastic neutron scattering is described by a log-normal law with a universal standard deviation of log E. This regularity is explained within the framework of the cluster model of glass structure.
