ELECTROMAGNETIC-WAVE POLARIZATION CHANGE AND CHARACTERISTIC WAVES IN AN INHOMOGENEOUS-PLASMA WITH SHEARED MAGNETIC-FIELD

摘要
For an electromagnet wave propagating in an inhomogeneous plasma with a sheared magnetic field, the conditions are found under which a wave can remain a local characteristic mode during it propagation. Extending previous work, the conditions are determined for the general case of propagation in an arbitrary direction with respect to the local magnetic field.
