摘要
The effect of Y-implantation doses of 2 x 10(14)-2 x 10(17) ion/cm2 on the oxidation behavior of Fe-20Cr-5Al alloy in the temperature range 900-1200-degrees-C was investigated. Unlike the additions of small amounts of metallic yttrium or yttrium oxide dispersions, the implantation of yttrium did not cause a significant improvement of the alumina scale adherence. In respect to oxide scale growth the yttrium implantation even had an adverse effect: the oxidation rate increased with increasing implantation dose. The results are discussed by correlating the gravimetric studies during isothermal and cyclic oxidation with detailed analysis of scale morphology and composition using SEM/EDX and RBS.
