TRANSITION IN THE OVERCOMPENSATED MULTICHANNEL KONDO ALLOY AU-V - SUSCEPTIBILITY AND RESISTIVITY DATA

We present susceptibility and resistivity data on dilute Au-V alloys. The most diluted alloys (40 ppm V) are known to behave magnetically as overcompensated multi-channel Kondo alloys. This is now confirmed by the resistivity behaviour and is explained partly by recent theoretical work and partly by a qualitative model. We report on the concentration dependence of this effect up to 2000 ppm V. A clear transition towards the normal Kondo effect behaviour is seen. This can be explained taking into account the special properties of the overcompensated state.
