摘要
Investigated 2 theoretical issues in free recall, the availability-accessibility distinction and the trace independence hypothesis, using a response cueing technique. Cueing, administered after Ss had recalled as much of the list as they could, consisted of presenting Ss with a subset of the list items. The Ss were told to use the cues to aid recall of the rest of the list. The results showed that cueing, under appropriate conditions can generate additional recall. The data thus support the distinction between the availability and the accessibility of item traces, but fail to support the hypothesis that the traces are independently stored.
