STARK BROADENING OF NA I 5682-88 A AND 4978-82 A LINES

Time-resolved Stark-broadened spectral line profiles have been experimentally obtained for the sodium 5682-88 Å and 4978-82 Å lines of a plasma. Comparison of measured electron densities in the plasma with available theoretical predictions, based on these line profiles, indicate that for the 5682-88 Å lines agreement is within the expected 20 per cent, while for the 4978-82 Å lines the analytical predictions are approximately 70 per cent too small. © 1969.
