Electric dipole moments of the A2B2 and X2A1 states of NO2 were measured by high resolution laser spectroscopy in a supersonic molecular beam under a static electric field ranging up to 300 kV/cm. The measurements were performed on the R(q)(0)00 transition of band 99 at 593 nm. The results for the excited states (1(01)) are mu-b(J' = 1/2) = 0.278(6) D, mu-b(J' = 3/2) = 0.254(6)D and for the ground state (0(00)) is mu-b = 0.289(6) D. A perturbation of the Stark pattern by an unknown background state could be localized at field strengths around 210 kV/cm.
