TRAVELING-WAVE WALL STATES IN ROTATING RAYLEIGH-BENARD CONVECTION

摘要
We show that the wall-localized convection states observed in Rayleigh-Benard convection in rotating cylindrical cells can be explained in terms of a geometry-independent traveling-wave wall state. We calculate the onset Rayleigh number, frequency, and wave number of such a state, as well as its amplitude equation. We also study the large-rotation-rate asymptotic behavior and the small-rotation-rate limit.
