PROPERTIES OF CV 1-STRAIN OF VACCINIA VIRUS .3. SENSITIVITY TO THIOSEMICARBAZONE

The strong antiviral activity of N-methylisatin B-thiosemicarbazone (NMBT) has been shown against the CV 1 strain of vaccinia virus, both in secondary monkey kidney cells (MK) and in infant mice. In MK this strain shows a much greater sensitivity to NMBT than the Connaught Laboratories and Lederle chorioallantoic strains, thus, providing a marker for CV1. In chick embryo fibroblasts, however, this difference in drug sensitivities was not marked. © 1969 Springer-Verlag.
