THE INFLUENCE OF WELL SHAPE ON THE PROPAGATION CHARACTERISTICS OF MULTIQUANTUM WELL WAVE-GUIDES

摘要
The finite element technique has been used to determine the effects of the well shape on the propagation characteristics of symmetric multiquantum well waveguides. An error function was used to describe the modified refractive index profile modification due to thermally induced interdiffusion of the well-barrier layers. The results show that the number of modes and their propagation constants vary with the extent of the interdiffusion.
