A MODEL-REFERENCED ADAPTIVE-CONTROL STRATEGY FOR IMPROVING CONTOUR ACCURACY OF MULTIAXIS MACHINE-TOOLS

摘要
To improve contouring performance of multiaxis computer numerically controlled machine tools, a model-referenced adaptive control strategy, combined with cross-coupled control of axial motion, is proposed. A feedback control loop is established between the desired input feedrate and the output contour error. By specifying a contour error bound, the desired feedrate is adaptively adjusted on line so that the resultant contour accuracy can be maintained within the specified bound. An experimental positioning system is constructed for implementing the proposed control strategy. The experimental work shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.
