IMPACTION OF SPHERICAL PARTICLES ON CYLINDRICAL COLLECTORS

摘要
The impaction coefficient of spherical particles moving in an air stream normal to an infinitely long cylindrical collector is analyzed. Experimental results where the radius of the particles is in the same order of magnitude as the radius of the cylindrical collector are compared with the already documented cases of particles much smaller than the collector. A comparison is made of a proposed expression for the impaction coefficient with already documented models as well as with available experimental data. The impaction coefficient is given in terms of the flow Reynolds number and the ratio of particle to collector radii alone. © 1969.
