摘要
Adaptation to the retirement process by male sociologists and psychologists was studied for the age period 60-75 in the group of 779 men, born in 1893-1903, who held academic positions in departments of psychology or sociology for at least 15 years immediately before the age of 60. Publication data were obtained for these men for the age interval 59-73. The men were grouped into 3 publication levels: High, medium, and low. The three groups were compared systematically on data from an extended questionnaire on their careers, and personality tests. They show markedly different life-styles. The differences in life-style are established during the adult years and are carried on through the age period, 60-75. © 1979 Oxford University Press.
