RELATIVE IONIZING POWER OF APROTIC DONOR SOLVENTS

Conductivity and PMR-studies of the systems (CH3)3SnJ-donor in nitrobenzene as well as in the respective donor solvents D reveal that the ionizing power of a donor solvent with regard to ionization of covalent compounds is determined by its donor properties, as approximately expressed by the donor number. Apart from this coordinating" contribution to the ionizing power of the donor the "dielectric" contribution becomes less apparent when solvents of similar dielectric constant are compared. © 1969 Springer-Verlag."
