摘要
Induced convection of the melt permits contact between the fibers and the melt which results in chemical interaction between the two. The presence of MgAl//2O//4 spinel on the fiber surface was confirmed. The composites were further processed to increase the volume fraction of fibers and align them in two dimensions. Modulus of elasticity and ultimate tensile strength were improved approximately 50 pct and 40 pct, respectively, by the addition of 23 vol pct Al//2O//3 fibers.
