Measurements of magnetization versus magnetic field hysteresis for Bi2Sr2CaCu2O(x) single crystal were performed in the temperature range from 4.2 to 25 K. Very large critical current density in a-b planes (J(c,ab)) of 1.8 x 10(6) A/cm2 was observed at 4.2 K. The falloff of J(c,ab) with applied magnetic field was small at 4.2 K, while J(c,ab) decreased rapidly with increasing temperature. As for the anisotropy of this single crystal, we measured M-H hysteresis as a function of the angle between magnetic field and a-b plane. The results support very well Kes' model that Bi-based high-T(c) superconductors are composed of two-dimensional superconducting layers separated by normal conducting insertion layers.
