摘要
This paper contains the results of neutron diffraction (ND) and quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) studies of aqueous electrolyte solutions. The ND results are derived from the neutron isotopic substitution difference method, and provide information of the ion-water co-ordination at the atomic level. As such the results are of fundamental importance in characterising aqua-ion structure and testing theoretical models of electrolyte solutions. Results derived from QENS provide information on the proton dynamics of water molecules in the solution. For certain strongly co-ordinated ions it is possible to calculate translational diffusion coefficients of the hydrated protons, and gain information of dynamic hydration numbers. © 1990.
