ACIDIC PROPERTIES OF MIXED TRANSITION-METAL OXIDES

Specificity of acidic properties and methods of their measurements in mixed transition metal oxides have been discussed. Acidity of some of these systems measured by the acidic probe reactions technique, has been reviewed for different modes of mutual arrangement of component oxides, including monophasic oxysalts and solid solutions, and bidimensional (monolayer) dispersion. Various acidity-structure relations have been demonstrated: in particular effects of morphology, coordination of cations, type of cations on acidity have been shown. The bearing of acidic properties of mixed transition metal oxides on their acitivity and selectivity in organic oxidation reactions has been reviewed.
