摘要
Herpes simplex virus type 1, strain THEA, causes rounding and clumping of HeLa-cells (P-type according to Gray et al., 1958; microplaques (mP) according to Hoggan and Roizman, 1959). A variant of this strain was isolated which forms large syncytia in HeLa-cells (GC-type according to Gray et al., macroplaques (MP) according to Hoggan and Roizman). Two strains of this variant had the same buoyant density as the original strain. There is no correlation between density and type of plaque-formation in this case. © 1968 Springer-Verlag.
