REACTION OF HYDROGEN-ATOMS WITH DIMETHYL SULFIDE

摘要
Hydrogen atoms produced by the photolysis of H2S in the presence of a large excess of inert gas were reacted with CH3SCH3. A mechanism involving a short chain and the two novel elementary reactions H + CH3SCH3 → CH3SH + CH3 and HS + CH3SCH3 → CH3SSH + CH3 adequately explains all experimental observations. The rate coefficient of the former reaction was determined in the temperature range of 27-199°C to have the value (1.71 ± 0.26) × 1013 exp[-(2621 ± 88)/RT] cm3 mol-1 s-1 relative to the literature value for the H + H2S → SH + H2 reaction of (7.77 ± 0.90) × 1012 exp[-(1709 ± 60)/RT] cm3 mol-1 s-1. © 1979 American Chemical Society.
