摘要
A brief review is provided which assesses the current status of the study of metastable phases of magnetic 3-d metals as epitaxial films on single crystal substrates. Three systems which have the largest literature are discussed in detail: fcc-gamma-Fe on Cu, fcc-beta-Co on Cu and bcc Co on GaAs.
