摘要
Xenon diffusion on a Pt(111) surface is modeled using a classical trajectory simulation employing an accurate semi-empirical potential function. Good agreement with experimental results suggests that this system may provide a good empirical test for Hamiltonian transport models. Analysis of the trajectory data indicates that long and correlated flights are centrally important in the diffusion process, although anomalous diffusion is not observed. Evidence is seen for the influence of low order periodic orbits in promoting long flights.
