BUBBLE DRAG AND MASS TRANSFER IN NON-NEWTONIAN FLUIDS - CREEPING FLOW WITH POWER-LAW FLUIDS

The drag and mass‐transfer characteristics of a gas bubble moving in power‐law non‐Newtonian fluids are examined analytically in terms of the rheological properties of the system. An approximate solution for the case of creeping flow around circulating bubbles shows that the mass‐transfer coefficient is enhanced for pseudoplastics and depressed for dilatants compared to the situation for Newtonian fluids.
