VARIATIONAL ESTIMATES OF IMPACT-PARAMETER AMPLITUDES

The high-energy impact-parameter amplitude is estimated variationally for a simple potential scattering, using the local-bound property of the reduced zero-energy operator. The result shows that the method may be effectively applied to composite-system scatterings with or without particle exchanges, and also to scattering problems at lower energies. © 1969 The American Physical Society.
