In this paper we critically discuss to what extent recent experimental data on νμ processes exclude the existence of nonsequential heavy leptons. The analysis is based on a specific model, whose leptonic sector can be considered as a minimal extension of the Weinberg-Salam representation which includes a right-handed isodoublet of heavy leptons in a SU 2×U 1 gauge model with mixing angles between leptons of the same lepton number. Upper bounds on these angles are set, using the β-μ, μ-e universalities, the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon and dilepton and trimuon events produced by νμ beams. A relation between mixing angles and lepton masses is obtained by diagonalization of the mass Lagrangian. © 1979 Società Italiana di Fisica.
