摘要
For recording channels employing thin-film disk media, noise arises from transition regions. This type of noise depends on the written data pattern and cannot be modeled as additive noise. In this paper, we study detection performance in the presence of such media noise as well as additive white noise, which adequately represents the read-side electronics/head noise. We consider run-length-limited (RLL) coding and investigate the sensitivity of various code/detector combinations to mixed additive and transition noise. © 1990 IEEE
