MEASUREMENT OF THE ELECTRON NEUTRINO MASS FROM TRITIUM BETA-DECAY

摘要
Measurements of the tritium beta-spectrum are reported. Thin sources consisting of a monolayer of tritiated hydrocarbon molecules were used. No indication of a nonzero mass m(nu) of the electron antineutrino was found. The result is M(nu)2 = -24 +/- 48 +/- 61 eV2 (1-sigma). An upper limit m(nu) < 11 eV (9 5% confidence level) is derived.
