PLASMA ELECTRIC MICROFIELDS FOR DIFFERING ELECTRON AND ION TEMPERATURES

摘要
A formalism is presented for the calculation of the low frequency electric microfield at a charged point in a plasma with differing electron- and ion-temperatures. The theory is based on the APEX approximation and reproduces the results of weak coupling theories but is also expected to be valid into the strong coupling regime. This formalism is computationally much simpler than previous two temperature microfield theories. The validity of the two temperature plasma model is also discussed along with the effect of this microfield on the first three members of the Lyman emission line series of hydrogenic aluminum.
