LOSSLESS TRANSMISSION OVER 10KM OF LOW-DISPERSION ERBIUM DOPED FIBER USING ONLY 15MW PUMP POWER

摘要
A depressed-cladding, highly-germania-doped, distributed erbium-doped silica fibre amplifier has been fabricated exhibiting high gain and low dispersion. A gain of 27 dB over 10 km was achieved at l-554/m. The fibre could be made transparent at this wavelength with only 15mW pump power at 1-485/mi. This is the lowest power requirement reported for loss transmission. © 1990, The Institution of Electrical Engineers. All rights reserved.
