摘要
The cerium-gallium system has been investigated by differential thermal analysis (DTA), metallography, X-ray diffraction and electron microprobe analysis. The following intermediate phases were observed: Ce3Ga2 (decomposes at 850 °C), CeGa (decomposes at 960 °C) and CeGa2 (melting point 1444 °C). Two eutectic reactions occur: Ce-Ce3Ga2 (495 ± 3 °C) and one on the gallium-rich side at about 30 °C. The addition of gallium to cerium affects the δ(b.c.c.) to γ(f.c.c.) transition temperature of cerium, lowering it from 725 °C to 703 °C. The structure of Ce3Ga2 was identified as the tetragonal Zr3Al2 type with the following lattice parameters: a = 8.3 A ̊, c = 7.64 A ̊. © 1979.
