摘要：

The valuable comments of Ma, Varadan, and Varadan [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 87, 2779-2782 (1990)] are extended using computational results to show that while a pair correlation function should be included in multiple scattering approaches for high concentration suspensions, it is important not to ignore the loss mechanisms, additional to the scattering, which may be making significant contributions to the total attenuation.
