摘要
The reduction of (−)-perillaldehyde (I) with sodium in aqueous ammonia afforded mainly trans- and cis-dihydroperillylalcohols (IIIa and IIIb). This fact indicates that this reduction method can surely be applied to α,β-unsaturated monoterpene aldehydes which are extremely sensitive to alkali and that the unconjugated carbon-carbon double bond is normally inert to this reducing condition. © 1969 Taylor and Francis Group LLC.
