CEREBROSPINAL FLUID PERFUSION A METHOD FOR STUDY OF NEUROSECRETORY ORGANS

The cerebrospinal perfusion method was applied for the study of the hypothalamo‐neurohypophyseal secretory system and subcommissural organ in the cat and rat. The artificial cerebrospinal fluid was introduced into the lateral ventricle and taken out of the suboccipital cisterna. Hyperkalemic (8 meq/1) perfusion fluid effected a decrease of the aldehyde‐fuchsin‐positive material in the subcommissural organs of the cats and rats. Hyperosmotic perfusion fluid had such an effect neither on the neurohypophysis nor the subcommissural organ. The method seems usefull for the study of the cellular reactions of the neurosecretory organs in vivo. © 1969 Scandinavian Physiological Society
