摘要
According to one of the Wigner-Teichmann sum rules of R-matrix theory, the average reduced partial width cannot exceed the single-particle limit. The implications of this rule for the observable widths are discussed. The existence of a similar restriction within the framework of the shell-model approach to nuclear reactions is investigated. Simple physical arguments are presented for the existence of such a limit for the partial widths of each individual resonance. © 1969.
