摘要：

Changes in the level of free fatty acids in serum, aorta, and adipose tissue were found to be more pronounced in young than in old female rats traumatized with a turpentine abscess on their hind paw. A similar difference was found for the level of urea in the blood. The blood level of pyruvate was increased in young rats only. The degree of inflammation was the same in both age groups. It is concluded that young animals mobilize more fat, proteins, and carbohydrates after trauma than old ones. The elevation of serum mucoproteins was the same in old and young traumatized rats.
