THE ENTHALPY OF FORMATION OF THE C6 MOLECULE FROM MASS-SPECTROMETRIC EQUILIBRIUM MEASUREMENTS

摘要
The equilibrium between graphite and C6(g) has been investigated by Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry at temperatures between 2630 and 2810 K. Together with thermal functions calculated from experimental and theoretical molecular parameters for the linear cumulenic structure, the third law enthalpy of formation, DELTAH(f,0) = 1312 +/- 18 kJ mol-1 and the atomization energy DELTAH(a,0) = 2955 +/- 20 kJ mol-1, have been obtained.
