Electron spin resonance (ESR) of the Tb3+ ion (4f8-electronic configuration) bas been studied in the crystals of wide band gap ternary semiconductor CuAlS2, grown by the chemical vapour transport technique. A Tb3+-related resonance line with g-value of about 4.0 and asymmetrical line shape has been observed and interpreted as arising from transitions within the lowest non-Kramers doublet split from the Tb3+ ion ground state by the effect of the tetragonal crystal field.
